Reason: to make it easier to tell at a glance what the canon is for people unfamiliar

alternative universe ‣  DELETED
Reason: with multiple tags on an entry, it'll be unclear who it applies to anyway. plus we only want tags for series (plus the original character tag)

creepypasta ‣  obscure canons
Reason: if we're going to be broad, we might as well allow any loose characters in who don't necessarily have a "canon" so much as a mythology

Reason: while we're aware of the difference, it gets the same point across in fewer words, and it's the more mainstream of the two. we don't separate book vs. movie/show canons anyway, or even different adaptions unless they're wildly different.
